Rev. Sandra J. (Wayne) Campbell is a remarkable individual with a rich and diverse background. Let me summarize her compelling story:

  • Education and Ministry:
    • Sandra attended Dunbar Elementary and Northeast Junior High schools in Kansas City, Kansas, before graduating from Sumner High School in 1969.
    • She is an ordained Unity Minister and the Executive Director of Unity Urban Ministerial School, where she graduated in 2012.
    • As an Associate Minister at Unity Temple on the Plaza, she actively contributes to the spiritual community.
    • Sandra’s involvement with Unity dates back to 1972, and she has served in various capacities, including adult and youth education, board membership, and choir participation.
  • Federal Career and Retirement:
    • Sandra spent 42 years working for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), rising from clerical positions to management roles.
    • After retiring from the FAA in 2012, she continued her service as the Public Affairs Officer for Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.
  • Academic Achievements:
    • She holds an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts (cum laude) from Kansas City, Kansas Community College.
    • Sandra earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication/English from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri.
    • Her academic journey also includes a Master’s degree in Management from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.
    • For two decades, she served as an Adjunct Professor at Webster University, teaching graduate-level classes on Management, Human Resources, and Diversity in the Workplace.
  • Lifelong Learning:
    • Sandra’s pursuit of knowledge continues, as she is currently a doctoral candidate for the Doctorate in Ministry through Holos University Graduate Seminary.
  • Cultural Anthropologist and Storyteller:
    • Nationally and internationally recognized, Sandra wrote and portrayed Bessie Coleman in “Follow Your Dreams: The Bessie Coleman Story.”
    • Bessie Coleman was the first African-American woman to become a licensed airplane pilot.
    • The play was produced and televised by PBS, showcasing Sandra’s talent as a cultural anthropologist and storyteller.
